Brisbane Bolts star back-end thruster Boyle "Lollies" Selassie
has lashed out angrily at being named in the Paedophilia in Queensland report,
tabled in the Queensland Parliament late last month.
"This'll ruined me," the talented young thruster said.
"I categorically deny ever being involved sexually with underage humans,"
Selassie said in a statement released by his parole officer.
The report's author, Children's Commissioner Norm Alford, would not comment
when The Bug told him of Selassie's strenuous denials of any wrongdoing.
The report's naming of Selassie is linked to video-taped evidence in the
hands of the Children's Commissioner which allegedly supports one person's
claim that Salassie "is a notorious paedophile who preys on innocent
young boys mesmerised by his star status".
The Bug viewed that disturbing tape and confronted Selassie at his Inala
half-way house with the shocking visual evidence.
He was dumbstruck as the tape revealed an unidentified boy dressed only
in a pair of pyjamas, jumping up and down excitedly at the sight of Selassie.
The sports star is shown naked from the waist up with his torso oiled and
wearing only a high-cut see-through posing pouch.
Selassie is seen performing some of his trademark on-field moves such as
his trace-back lunge with underarm lance retrieval and his tricky but crowd-pleasing
overhead backward groin snap.
At the end of the tape, Selassie is seen lunging forward towards the excited,
pyjama-clad youngster.
When an ashen-faced Selassie finally regained his composure, he lashed out
in typical Bolts fashion.
"You absolute pricks," Selassie said, trying to manhandle this
newspaper's reporter and photographer in a desperate bid to retrieve the
highly damaging tape and smash our box brownie.
"That shit's been running on television for months now. It's the promotion
for Star Picket League and you know that as well as I do!"
Selassie accused The Bug and other media outlets of again distorting the
facts and a failure to do their job.
"I'm not the only one in the ad, and a viewing of the full tape will
show plenty of my Bolts team-mates as well as some of the big names from
other Star Picket League clubs.
"It makes me sick how the media doesn't bother to check the facts before
rushing to publish something that could be quite damaging to me, my career
and probation conditions.
"Quite frankly, I am tired of being the subject of sloppy reporting
where the public gets only half the facts and anything I say is taken out
of context."
Selassie said the latest incident would not prevent his fulfilling his duties
to promote the Star Picket League grand final on September 20, including
an appearance at a monster truck race at Archerfield Speedway next Saturday
night.
"I'm a monster truck fan from way back," Selassie said.
"I'll be there wouldn't miss it for quids. What can I say. The
kids love me."
