Surface settled
Queensland Sports Minister Terry Mackenroth says the replacement
playing surface now being installed at Suncorp Stadium should
be in top condition for World Cup rugby matches in October.
Mr Mackenroth - a staunch defender of the controversial turf originally
installed at the stadium - said that following the World Cup the
new surface would be used for the national beach volleyball finals.
Grave matter
Victorian ALP Senator Robert Ray has refused to discuss a visit
he is rumoured to have made to the grave of former Queensland
Senator the late Mal Colston. When contacted yesterday, Senator
Ray said he would neither confirm nor deny a vist to the grave.
His only comment was that he recently flew to Brisbane on "parliamentary
business".
Senator Ray would not be drawn on suggestions by fellow airline
passengers that he carried with him a portable parquetry dance
floor, a set of disco strobe lights, a CD player and a selection
of dance tunes.
